SEARCY, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball continued with conference play on Thursday evening when they traveled to face off against conference member Harding University. The Weevils came out with a 65-63 win over the Bisons.

Chad Tapp tabbed his 200th career win as a head coach in the victory.
Zane Nelson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (12-14, 10-11 GAC) with 20 points on the night. Nelson went 8-20 on total field goals, 1-6 from beyond-the-arc, and 3-6 from the line, while also contributed three rebounds and three assists in his 39 minutes of play.
Isaac Jackson had 16 points of his own on the game, hitting 4-16 field goals and 8-8 free throws with nine rebounds and an assist.
Josh Denton was the final Boll Weevil in double digits, posting 13. Denton was 5-11 on field goals and 3-7 from deep, while grabbing four rebounds.
Harding University (12-15, 9-12 GAC) was led by
Rylie Marshall with 20 points.
The first half of the game saw an aggressive display of basketball between the two teams, with 70 points scored between them. Harding struck first, scoring a three on their first possession, and held the lead for the first 11 minutes of the game.
Alex Brogdon brought the game to a draw at the 8:30 mark with a free throw. A three from
Wesley Booker put the Weevils on top for the first time of the evening. Harding found the advantage again with 25 seconds on the clock, sending the teams to the locker room with HU leading, 36-34.
Arkansas-Monticello came out hot in the second 20 minutes, scoring the first nine points of the half. The Boll Weevils saw a high of 10 points in the advantage before the match-up saw a draw of 63-63 with 30 seconds left on the clock.
Zane Nelson came up big for UAM, hitting a last minute jumper to put the Weevils back on top. The Bisons were unable to respond, as UAM would claim a 65-63 victory.
Arkansas-Monticello committed only six turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to action on Saturday, Mar. 2nd when they host Ouachita Baptist University for the final home game of the 2023-2024 season. This game will also be Senior day for the Graduating seniors for both teams so be sure to come out and show your support. The game is scheduled to tip off at 3:00 p.m., and will take place after senior day activities.
