MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team hosted the Augustana Vikings (SD) for a doubleheader on Monday afternoon. The Blossoms came split the day with a 6-0 loss in game one, followed by a 5-2 victory in game two.

Scoring Recap:
Augustana came out swinging in game one, scoring two runs in the first inning of the game. The Vikings would proceed to score four more runs over the course of the game, with one in the third, two in the fourth, and a final in the top of the seventh.
The Blossoms were unable to find a run, dropping the opener 6-0.

Kennedy Cox kicked off game two with an rbi ground ball to score
Adrianna Erichsen in the first. Erichsen followed up in the second, driving in
Kammie Walker on an rbi single to give the Blossoms a 2-0 lead.
The Vikings brought home their only two runs of the game on a 2 RBI double to left center in the third.
A bases loaded walk in the fifth, followed by an RBI double from Erichsen and an RBI single from Cox in the sixth gave UAM a 5-2 lead. Augustana couldn't respond in the top of the seventh, resulting in a Blossom win.
The split on the day pushes Arkansas-Monticello to a 3-3 start to the 2024 season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back to work in Bentonville, Arkansas this weekend in the annual Alvy Early Memorial Classic Tournament. The Blossoms will kick off the weekend on Friday, Feb. 9 against Wayne State at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
