Softball Splits Doubleheader with Bison to Close Weekend

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team looked to close out their three game conference series with Oklahoma Baptist University, Saturday afternoon. The Blossoms split the doubleheader with the Bison, taking an 8-3 win in game one, followed by a 3-1 loss in game two.

Game 1, 7 Innings

Scoring Recap:
The Bison scored the first two runs in the first, followed by a third run on a solo home run in the bottom of the third.

Grace Neal kicked off the Blossom come back in the fifth with an RBI double down the left field line, scoring Kennedy Cox. Bailey Camp Drove in Jadyn Hart on a double of her own for UAM's second run. Adrianna Erichsen and Lexie Smith each drove in a run to close out the fifth, giving Monticello a 4-3 lead.

Kayla Richardson and Camp each scored in the seventh to give UAM a 6-3 advantage. Madison Gardiner drove in the final two runs on a double down the right field line.

Game two on the weekend concluded with an 8-3 win for the Blossoms.

Scoring Recap:
Oklahoma Baptist scored first again in game three on a two-run home run in the third.

Grace Neal doubled to right in the fifth to score Emmy Apodaca as the Lone Blossom run.

OBU found a third run in the fifth on a passed ball.

The split on the day puts Arkansas-Monticello to a 13-17, 5-9 GAC record for the 2024 season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back to work, Friday Mar. 22, as they host out-of-state conference member Southern Nazarene University, for a three game series. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. with the second game to follow.
