BETHANY, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team closed out their weekend series with Southern Nazarene University in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Weevils came out with a 9-8 loss to the Crimson Storm in game one, followed by a dominant 18-3 victory in game two.

Scoring Recap:
Monticello was the first on the board, scoring the first three runs of the game in the top of the first. The runs came from a couple RBI singles from
Cade Cancilla and
Kirk Woolf, and a SAC fly from Parker Dorance. SNU responded in the bottom of the first with a run of their own making the game 3-1.
A double from
Camden Tanner brought Aidan Garret in to score, and an RBI single from
Chase Cripps extended UAM's lead to 5-1. The Crimson Storm rallied in the bottom of the second, stringing together three runs to make the game 5-4.
Noah Estrem crossed the plate in the third on a double from
Logan Jones and a home run from Tanner in the fourth increased the Weevils lead 7-4. The Crimson Storm scored two more runs, with one in the fourth and one in the sixth, to make the score 7-6.
Aidan Garrett crossed the plate in the seventh on a single from Tanner, extending Monticello's lead to 8-6.
A walk-off three-run home run sealed the win for the Crimson Storm bringing the score to 9-8.

The bats started off hot for the Weevils in game three as
Aidan Garrett and
Chaz Poppy crossed the plate after a single to right field from
Cade Cancilla. A two-run home run from Praker Dorrance stretched the Weevils lead to 4-0.
The Crimson Storm scored a run in the bottom half of the inning, but Monticello stretched their lead to 7-1 after a three-run home run from
Chaz Poppy.
UAM posted a six-run inning in the top of the top of the third, kicked off by an RBI double down the right field line from
Gunner Haskins to plate
Brodie Romero. A couple two run home runs from
Aidan Garrett and
Cade Cancilla brought the Weevils lead to 12-1. The Weevils would also capitalize on a Crimson Storm error to make the game 13-1.
SNU was only able to produce one run in the bottom of the third, bringing the score to 13-2.
The top of the sixth saw two more Weevils cross the plate with a SAC fly from Deshaun Cordova and a single from
Chaz Poppy to make it a 15-2 ball game.
The Weevils plated three more runs in the top of the seventh after a double to right field from Cordova. The Crimson Storm would not be able to make a come back, only scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh. UAM took game three of the series 18-3, over the Crimson Storm.
Today's games bring Arkansas-Monticello to a 15-13, 12-6 GAC record for the 2024 season.
