Weevils Drop Final Game in NWOSU series

ALVA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team closed out their weekend series with Northwestern Oklahoma State University with game three on Saturday afternoon. The Weevils came out of the last game with a 15-9 loss to the Rangers.

Scoring Recap:
Monticello was the first team on the board in game three of the series with a three run home run in the top of the first from Chaz Poppy. Northwestern responded in the bottom of the first with six runs of their own taking the lead over the Weevils, 6-3. 

The Rangers went on the stretch their lead in the bottom of the second with a three run home run making the game 9-3. 

In the top of the third the Weevils began to chip away at the Rangers lead with solo home run from Camden Tanner. Another home run from Chase Cripps would plate two more runs for Monticello, and an RBI from Parker Dorrance would close out the top of the third with the Rangers still in the lead 9-7.

After holding Northwestern off in bottom of the third Monticello chipped away at their lead once again with a SAC fly from Cade Cancilla to plate Roc Hawthorne

The Rangers responded in the bottom of the fourth with three more runs, stretching their lead 12-8 over the Weevils. 

Camden Tanner once again went yard for the Weevils in the top of of the sixth to cut down the Rangers lead to 12-9. Northwestern would hold off Monticello's offense for the remainder of the game, scoring three more runs of their own, taking game three of the series 15-9 from the Weevils. 

The weekend series win pushes Arkansas-Monticello to a 22-18, 18-9 GAC record for the 2024 season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back in action Tuesday, Apr. 16 when they travel to Henderson State University for a non-conference game. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
