MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team closed out their three game series with Southern Arkasas University with a double header Saturday afternoon. The Boll Weevils came out of game one with a 6-2 loss, followed by a 1-0 walk-off win in game two to claim a share of the 2024 GAC Regular Season Championship.
After the split with the Muleriders, the Boll Weevils were 1/3 of the regular season title holders. Joining them is in-state foes Harding and Arkansas Tech. All three teams finished the season with a conference record of 23-10.
Going into the first round of the GAC Tournament next weekend, the seeding between the three regular season champions was decided on by wins over the fourth place team, Henderson State. Earlier in the year, UAM swept the Reddies at home, while Harding won the series 2-1, and the Arkansas Tech dropped the series 2-1. Because of the sweep, Arkansas-Monticello will host the #8 seed in the opening round of the tournament.
Before today's games, UAM honored it's five seniors on the team.
