MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team hosted Mississippi College for a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Blossoms dropped both games of the doubleheader, seeing a 6-5 loss in extras in game one, followed by an 8-5 loss in game two.
Game 1, 8 Innings

Mississippi College scored first in game one, scoring a run on an RBI single up the middle.
Monticello responded in the bottom of the inning when
Courtnee Sensibaugh scored on a dropped third strike and thrown away ball to first. Monticello scored once again in the bottom of the third, after a throwing error from the Choctaw catcher advanced Emmy Apadoca across the plate for the lead, 2-1.
Mississippi College took the lead again in the top of the fourth with a two run home run to center field.
Monticello responded again in the bottom of the fifth when Tayven Davis scored on a throwing error from the short stop, and once again after an RBI single from Sensibaugh plated
Kayla Richardson for the lead 4-3.
In the top of the seventh, the Choctaws's tied up the game 4-4, scoring on a wild pitch. The Blossoms could not find the runs needed to take the lead, sending the game into extra innings.
Mississippi College capitalized in the eighth, plating two of their runners after a RBI single and SAC fly.
Monticello came in to the bottom of the eighth strong with an RBI single from
Jadyn Hart to score Sensibaugh. The Blossoms were unable to put together anymore runs in the inning, dropping game one to the Choctaws 6-5.
Game 2, 7 Innings
Arkansas-Monticello: 5, Mississippi College: 8

Scoring Recap:
Mississippi College was the first on the board in game two, posting a five run inning in the first. The Choctaws kept their rally going in the second, homering twice to push their lead 8-0 over the Blossoms.
The Blossoms offense came to life in the bottom of the third, as a 2 RBI single from
Maggie Miller plated
Adrianna Erichsen and
Kammie Walker.
Monticello chipped away once more at the Choctaws' lead in the forth with a solo home run to left field from
Bailey Groom, making the score 8-3.
In the bottom of the bottom of the sixth, Monticello struck again with a double from Emmy Apadoca to bring home to more runs for UAM. The drive brought the Blossoms within three as they trailed MC, 8-5.
Despite the Blossoms' best efforts, they were unable to come back from the Choctaw's early 8 run lead, dropping game two 8-5.
The games from today dropped Arkansas-Monticello to a 17-21 record for the 2024 season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back to work on Friday, Apr. 5 when they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to compete in a conference series with Henderson State University. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
