MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team hosted Henderson State University on Friday afternoon to open up their conference series. The Boll Weevils came out of the series opener with an 11-4 victory over the Reddies.

Scoring Recap:
The Boll Weevils were on the board first, plating four runs in the first innings.
Chaz Poppy kicked off the rally with a 2 RBI double to center, scoring
Camden Tanner and
Roc Hawthorne on the play.
Aidan Garrett brought home the third and fourth runs of the game on a single up the middle.
Henderson State got on the board in the third, scoring on a throwing error after stealing third.
Monticello matched the visiting team in the bottom half of the inning with one run.
Chase Cripps scored on a
Kirk Woolf double to right center.
Cripps brought two runs across the plate in the fourth on an RBI single to center, pushing the Boll Weevil lead to 7-1.
The Reddies scored a single run in each of the next three innings, but a solo home run over the deck in left from Woolf shut down the Reddie streak.
UAM saw two three runs in the eighth on two RBI doubles and an RBI single to push their lead to 11-4. HSU was unable to respond in the ninth.
Today's game pushes Arkansas-Monticello to a 18-17, 14-8 GAC record for the 2024 season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, April 6, to close out the series with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. with the second game to follow.
