MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team (3-2, 0-0 GAC) welcomed the Statesmen of Delta State University for a Tuesday evening contest inside Steelman Field House. Despite being down going into halftime, the Weevils flipped the script and took the contest 75-69 over Delta State
Isaac Jackson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (3-2, 0-0 GAC), posting 21 points in the game. Jackson hit 8-14 total field goals on the day and 5-7 free throws. He also contributed five total rebounds, four assists, one block, and a steal in his 31 minutes.
Jakob Zenon followed close behind in the double-digits, scoring 20 points of his own. Zenon hit 6-11 field goals, six three-pointers, and 2-2 from the line while grabbing three rebounds, four assists, and a steal.
Ashton Price was the third Boll Weevil in double-digits for UAM, scoring 14 points. Price hit 5-10 field goals and 4-6 free throws while grabbing five rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Josh Smith saw 12 points posted on the evening as the final Boll Weevil in the double-digits. Smith went 4-8 on field goals and 4-4 from the line, while grabbing six rebounds and two assists.
Delta State (2-2, 0-0 GSC) was led by
Bryce Clayton with 18 points.
The Statesmen kicked off the first half with a 4-0 lead over the Boll Weevils. A layup from
Ashton Price put UAM on the board before seeing Delta State increase their lead to 33-19. With 1:55 remaining on the clock, DSU reached a high of 16 points in the lead over Monticello. The teams headed to the locker room at the half with the Weevils trailing, 40-29.
The second half proved to be dominated by the home team, with the Weevils outscoring the Statesmen 46 points to 29, flipping the momentum of the first half. After taking the lead with a three-pointer made by
Jakob Zenon, Arkansas-Monticello took control for the remainder of the game. The match would come to a close with a 75-69 victory for the Weevils.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 5 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to next Saturday, November 29, as they host Ecclesia College in Steelman Field House for their final pre-conference contest of the season. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
