MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossom Volleyball team welcomed the Golden Suns of the Arkansas Tech University to Steelman Fieldhouse Tuesday evening. The Blossoms came up short, as the Golden Suns took the match in a 3-0 sweep (26-24, 25-17, 27-25).

Mia Smalls surpassed 2,000 career assists during the match with her 23 on the evening. Smalls now ranks third in total career assists at 2,011.
UAM was held to a .140 hitting percentage on 52 digs, 32 assists, 7 blocks, 5 aces, and 34 kills.
SET-BY-SET
FIRST SET (26-24 ATU, ATU leads 1-0)
The opening set began evenly match as Arkansas-Monticello and Arkansas Tech exchanged points back-and-forth, bringing the set to 9-7 in favor of the Golden Suns. ATU's offense pulled ahead, extending their lead to 16-11, however, the Blossoms quickly responded with a 4-0 and 5-0 rally of their own to reclaim the lead, 21-19. After more points were exchanged, the Golden Suns remained on top, taking the first set, 26-24.
SECOND SET (25-17 ATU, ATU leads 2-0)
The second set looked to be similar to the first, with Arkansas-Monticello and Arkansas Tech exchanging points, tying the set 10-10. The Blossom's momentum faltered as the Golden Suns pulled ahead, extending their lead to 18-12. UAM managed to cut the deficit to four points, but the Golden Suns rallied to take the second set, 25-17, and lead the series, 2-0.
THIRD SET (27-25 ATU, ATU wins 3-0)
Arkansas-Monticello saw themselves down early in the third and final set, 6-1, however, a 4-0 rally helped the Blossoms to tie the set, 9-9. The Blossoms and Golden Suns vied over possession of leadership for the remainder of the set, exchanging points back-and-forth, bringing the set to 25-25. Arkansas Tech remained victorious, taking the final set, 27-25, and the match, 3-0.
