HOUSTON, Tex. – The Arkansas-Monticello baseball team competed in the second day of the Houston Winter Invitational on Saturday, taking on the #3 ranked Mules of the University of Central Missouri. The Boll Weevils avenged their 2024 Super Regional loss, by downing Central Missouri, 7-5. In a thrilling finish for UAM, the final strike and out of the game stemmed from a Mules batter pitch clock violation.

The Boll Weevils were once again the first on the board in the top of the first inning.
Chaz Poppy singled to left to drive in
Roc Hawthorne.
Camden Tanner would be brought in by a single to left from
Chase Cripps, making it 2-0. The Weevils would not let up in the first adding another two runs off a bases-loaded walk to
Aidan Garrett bringing in
Chaz Poppy, and a fly out to left field from
Brodie Romero driving in
Chase Cripps.
Central Missouri would find themselves two runs in the bottom of the third, off a double and fly out to center field.
UAM added another two runs in the top of the fifth off a single to left field from
Chaz Poppy who would again score
Roc Hawthorne and
Camden Tanner.
UCM found two runs on two hits to left field in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 6-4 game.
The Weevils responded with a run of their own in the top of the eighth, thanks to a UCM wild pitch that brought in
Will Owens.
The Mules would take advantage of a ground out to shortstop to add another run in the bottom of the eighth, however, their attempt to strike a comeback would not succeed, with UAM taking the game, 7-5.

Maxim Mrakovcic started on the mound for UAM, tossing 4.0 innings with four strikeouts, two hits, five walks, and two runs allowed.

Lane Imhoff was the winning pitcher of the day, seeing 2.0 innings of work, striking out two, with one walk and two hits.

Aiden McGee faced three batters in the seventh inning allowing two runs on two hits and one walk.

John White took the mound for 2.0 innings with two strikeouts, two hits, a walk, and a run allowed.

Kyle Roop tossed the final 1.0 inning, seeing a strikeout to record the save.
