HUMBLE, Texas - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Golf opened its spring season competing on the first day of the Houston Classic, hosted by Southern Nazarene on Monday, Feb. 11, at Golf Course of Houston (Tournament Course). The Weevils came out of the first day in place, firing a two-round combined score of 618, 42-over par. Fellow GAC member Henderson State finished two head of Arkansas-Monticello in 13th after scoring 38-over par (614) on day one.

Leading the Weevils after the first day of the Houston Classic was freshman Landry Rogers who rounded off the first day with a score of 6-over par (150) tying for 32nd place. Rogers completed the first round with a score of 77 (+5) and the second round 1-over par (73).

Tying for 64th with a two-round score of 155 (+11) were junior Daniel Taylor and senior Owen Page. Taylor shot a final score of 6-over par (78) in the first round and a score of 5-over par (77), with Page shooting 5-over par (77) in the opening round, before firing a second round of 78 (+6).

Freshman Connor Whitworth completed the first day tied for 78th with a score of 16-over par (160). Whitworth fired an opening round of 79 (+7) and a second round of 9-over par (81).

Finishing off the board for the Weevils tied for 82 with a final score of 18-over par (162) was sophomore Chase Kisver. Kisver fired a first round of 11-over par (83), before shooting a second round of 79 (+7).

The Weevils are back on the greens Tuesday, Feb. 11, as they compete in the third and final round of the Houston Classic from the Golf Course of Houston (Tournament Course) in Humble, Texas.
