MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team is set to host the annual Alvy Early Memorial Classic from Friday, February 7 through Sunday, February 9 in Bentonville, Arkansas. After starting the season 3-1 in Branson, Missouri the Cotton Blossoms are set to take on, William Jewell College (Mo.) and the University of Missouri - St. Louis on Friday, Feb. 7, Truman State University and Emporia State University on Saturday, Feb 8, and Washburn University and Northeastern State University on Sunday, Feb. 9.
"I think we learned where we needed to get better after last weekend," said Head Coach Kyle Lem. "I like the fight and grit we are developing with this team and hopefully we can continue to stack days this week to get better. This weekend is always a special weekend for us in memory of Coach Early. We have another tough weekend and look forward to competing against some quality opponents."

LAST MEETING | ALL-TIME SERIES
William Jewell College (Mo.) - The Cardinals took the last meeting against the Blossoms, 5-0, on Feb. 15, 2019. Haley Godeaux went 1-for-2 with a walk at the plate, while Hayley McGhee pitched 4 innings allowing one walk on three strikeouts, and the runs. Kaylee Freeman also pitched in the game for 1.2 innings with two runs. | The series is split 1-1 between both teams, with the Blossoms beating the Cardinals in February of 2014. Making that victory the largest victory at 8-0. With only eight runs in the books, through two games the Blossoms are averaging four runs per game.
University of Missouri - St. Louis - The Tritons proved to be the dominant threat in the last meeting on Feb. 16, 2020, beating the ladies in green and white, 8-4. UAM got things going in the first inning on offense when Caroline Tedder homered to score Haley Cornell making it 2-0 Blossoms. In the third, UMSL answered with a six spot thanks to four hits. The Blossoms did respond in the fifth inning when Mahayla Mitchell doubled to score Sierra Gasca to make it 6-3. However, in the sixth, the Tritons tallied a pair to put the game pretty much out of reach. UAM added a run in the bottom frame, but it was not enough as they fell, 8-4. | The Blossoms lead in the all-time series 5-3, the series dates back to the first meeting in March of 2008 when UAM beat UMSL 2-0 in Monticello. Out of the eight games played, only two have not been played at a neutral site, with the two being held in Monticello, where each team took a game for themselves. The largest margin of victory came in February 2010 when the Blossom took down the Tritons, 13-2. Through eight games played the Cotton Blossoms have a total run count of 53, with an average of 6.62 runs per game.
Truman State University - The Blossoms won the last meeting against the Bulldogs on Feb. 1, 2025, 2-1. Dacia Sexton got the Blossoms on the board first in the third, scoring on a wild pitch to put UAM up 1-0. Truman State matched UAM in the fourth on an RBI single up the middle. The Blossoms walked it off in the seventh on a TSU error, seeing Kammie Walker score on the play to give UAM a 2-1 win. Kayla Olthouse tossed a complete game against the Bulldogs, totaling 7.0 innings with eight strikeouts. Dacia Sexton went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Aubree Goodnight went 1-for-1 with a double. | The all-time series is split 1-1, the Blossoms' victory over the Bulldogs came on Feb. 1, 2025, with a 2-1 victory that holds the record as the largest victory so far. With only four runs scored in two games, the Blossoms are averaging two runs per game.
Emporia State University - The Lady Hornets were the victors in the last meeting in Feb. 2024, beating UAM 3-6. Emporia State would add four runs to the board in the first inning courtesy of a double to left field and a single to left field. Arkansas-Monticello would see the board in the third with a run thanks to a double to left center. An ESU homer in the fifth would add another run for the Hornets. The Blossoms would try to fight back in the bottom of the fifth adding two more to their portion of the board thanks to a single and a double to center field. It would prove to not be enough as the Lady Hornets would take the game, 6-3. | Emporia leads in the all-time series 5-3 over UAM. All eight games played have been held at neutral sites in Arkansas. The largest margin of victory for Arkansas-Monticello came in the first-ever game played via a 10-1 win in March of 2001, Through eight games played the Blossoms have scored 36 times, averaging 4.5 runs per game.
Washburn University - The Ichabods lead the way to a 0-6 victory for the Cotton Blossoms in the last meeting in February of 2017. UAM struggled offensively against the Ichabods, only recording two hits in the match-up from Brittany Gentry and Jordan Herbner. WU opened up the ballgame with two runs in the first inning with a two-run double to right field. Washburn added four more runs in the top of the seventh to seal the game off at 6-0 over the Blossoms. | The Blossoms lead in the all-time series 4-3, which dates back to the first meeting, a 6-5 victory in March of 1997. The largest margin of victory for the ladies in green and white came in February of 2013 with an 11-3 win. Through seven games played the Blossoms have run home 32 Blossoms averaging 4.57 runs per game.
Northeastern State University - The Blossoms fell victim to the Riverhawks, 0-4, in the last meeting in February of 2024. After a completely scoreless four innings, Northeastern State scored all four of their runs in the fifth. The Blossoms were unable to respond to the RiverHawks, eventually dropping their opening game of the season, 4-0. Jadyn Hart went 1-for-3 with a double Sam Stephens started on the rubber, seeing 4.1 innings with two runs on one hit. She also had four strikeouts and a walk. Kyann Woods saw 0.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits. Kayla Olthouse closed out the remaining 2.1 innings, posting no runs allowed on two hits with three strikeouts. | The Riverhawks lead in the all-time series over UAM, 7-5, which dates back to a 6-8 loss in February of 1997. The Blossoms would also lose the next game in 2000, before finally taking down the Riverhawks in February of 2004 in a 6-1 win. The largest margin of victory would come via an 8-0 victory in February of 2008. Through 13 games played, Arkansas-Monticello has scored 57 runs, averaging 4.75 runs per game.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLOSSOMS
The Blossoms went 3-1 the past weekend in Branson, Mo. They went 1-1, falling to the Lions of Missouri Southern, 6-1, and beating the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University, 2-1, on Friday, Jan. 31. On Saturday. Feb 1., they went 2-0, taking down Truman State University, 2-1, and Newman University, 4-2.
