MONTICELLO, Ark. - The Arkansas-Monticello softball team has altered its upcoming GAC series with the Lady Bulldogs from Southwestern Oklahoma State University to a Sunday - Monday meeting due to forecasted inclement weather in Monticello this weekend. The Blossoms will play a doubleheader on Sunday, March 16 starting at 2:00 p.m., with a Monday, March 17 matinee at noon.
LAST MEETING
Southwestern Oklahoma State University - The Blossoms went 1-for-2 during the last series meeting with the Lady Bulldogs on April 19-20, 2024.
UAM was the first team on the board in game one of the series, after an RBI single from
Grace Neal brought
Adrianna Erichsen across the plate. The Blossoms scored once again in the top of the second when Erichsen tripled to left center, bringing in both
Sophie Wood and
Courtnee Sensibaugh. The Bulldogs were able to find a run in the third inning, but it would not be enough to overcome the Blossoms lead. Monticello ended up taking game one of the series 3-1 over Southwestern. Game two proved to be a total flip of momentum from the first. UAM would score seven runs throughout the opening four innings, with
Ronnie Johnson driving in the first on a SAC fly, followed by an error and a bases-loaded walk to cross two more runs across the plate.
Madison Gardiner drove in two on a single down the right-field line and Johnson drove in another run on her second SAC of the day.
Bailey Camp drove in the seventh run in the fourth on a double to center field. The Rangers got on the board in the fifth, scoring two runs to make it a 7-2 game.
Maggie Miller singled to left to drive in UAM's eighth run and Coutnee Sensibaugh lined out to deep left for a SAC to score the final run of the game.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwestern Oklahoma State University - UAM leads in the record 33-18, dating back to the first meeting in February of 2004 a 1-0 win. The largest margin of victory for the ladies in green and white came in May of 2021 in a 10-0 victory in Monticello. The Blossoms currently sit with a home record of 16-2, an away record of 14-16, and an overall conference record of 30-18. Through the last 10 meetings with the Lady Dogs, the Blossoms are 5-for-5. With 51 games played the Arkansas-Monticello has put 260 runs on the scoreboard averaging 5.1 runs per game.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLOSSOMS
The Blossoms dropped their midweek GAC doubleheader with the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas on Tuesday, March 11 in Monticello, falling 8-0 in game one and 5-1 in game two.
