MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team has altered its three-game GAC series with the Lady Bisons of Harding University this upcoming weekend due to forecasted inclement weather in Monticello. The series will now take place on Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28 at Alvy Early Field at Ryburn Park. Thursday's meeting will consist of a doubleheader starting at 4:00 p.m., followed by a Friday afternoon finale at noon.
LAST MEETING
Harding University - The Cotton Blossoms fell in the last series meeting 0-3 (2-3, 0-5, 1-7) to the Lady Bisons. The Bisons were the first to score in game one of the series with a solo home run in the bottom of the second. Harding scored again in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run making the game 3-0. Monticello plated their first run in the sixth asÂ
Grace Neal brought inÂ
Kennedy Cox on a double down the right-field line to make it a 3-1 game. The top of the seventh opened withÂ
Maggie Miller drawing a lead-off walk, followed by a single to the pitcher fromÂ
Emmy Apodaca to get the rally started. A SAC bunt fromÂ
Courtnee Sensibaugh put the Blossoms in scoring position. UAM scored on a wild pitch making the game 3-2. Unfortunately, the Blossoms were unable to find another run of the day, seeing the tying run thrown out at home to kill the rally. The Bisons posted five runs throughout the second game, scoring one in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and a final in the sixth. Monticello was unable to respond the entirety of the game, resulting in a 5-0 loss. Harding's offense once again prevailed in game three, scoring seven runs throughout the game.Â
Kammie Walker drove in the lone run for UAM on a double to left center, scoringÂ
Lexie Smith on the play.
