MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team is preparing to hit the road for a three-game GAC series with the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12. The series will open with a doubleheader on Friday at 1:00 p.m., before concluding with a Saturday matinee at noon at the Southeastern Softball Field.

LAST MEETING
Southeastern Oklahoma (GAC Tournament) - The Savage Storm closed UAM season last year at the GAC Tournament, 9-2. After 3.5 scoreless innings, the Storm was the first team on the board. Southeastern posted three runs in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on a two-RBI double to right center, followed by a third when taking advantage of a Blossom error. Monticello responded in the top of the fifth with two runs of their own, seeing senior Grace Neal wear a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the first, followed by a wild pitch to bring Jadyn Hart across the plate for run number two. The sky fell out at the bottom of the inning, and the Blossom pitching staff struggled to hold on to the ball as they fought the rain on the mound. Five runs were scored in the inning, as two runs were scored on walks and three were scored on two singles. Grace Neal gave the Blossoms two runs in the top of the seventh, blistering a ball to the wall in left-center field. She scored Adrianna Erichsen and Bailey Camp on the drive to decrease the Southeastern lead to 9-4. Unfortunately, the efforts would prove not enough as the game would come to a close with a loss to the Storm.

Southeastern Oklahoma (GAC Series) - The GAC series saw the Blossoms winning 2-1 over the Storm going, 3-2, 2-3, 6-3 in February of 2024. Southeastern Oklahoma struck first on the day, scoring two runs throughout the first three innings. Adrianna Erichsen drove in Courtnee Sensibaugh in the bottom of the third to put the Blossoms on the board. In the bottom of the seventh, Grace Neal drove in Erichsen to tie up the game, followed by a walk-off single for Lexie Smith to claim victory in the conference opener. In game two the Strom found three runs throughout the game, scoring two in the fourth and a final in the fifth, with two coming from solo home runs. Sophie Wood ran into her second home run of the season in the fifth, driving in two on the blast over the left field wall. Unfortunately, the effort proved not enough as the game would close with no other runs scored. Southeastern was the first to score in game three with an RBI single in the top of the first, but the Blossoms responded with a two-run bomb from Kennedy Cox. The Savage Storm once again took the lead in the third on two RBI doubles, but a single to right field from Sophie Wood would bring both Adrianna Erichsen and Bailey Camp across the plate, putting the Blossoms back on top, 4-3. Kammie Walker gave the Blossoms some insurance in the fifth with a single to left that scored Lexie SmithKennedy Cox drove in the final Blossom run a solo shot to right center for her second home run of the game. The contest would conclude with a 6-3 victory for UAM and a series win to open conference play. Kyann Woods was the overall winning pitcher on the weekend, winning games one and three.
