CONWAY, Ark. - The Blossoms volleyball team traveled to Conway, Arkansas Tuesday evening for a pair of exhibition matches with the Valors of Evangel University (Mo.) and the Mustangs of Central Baptist College. Arkansas-Monticello dropped a three-set match to the Valors, 25-17, 25-15, 25-11, before sweeping their match against the Mustangs, 25-13, 25-15, 25-23. 

UAM was held to a -.064 hitting percentage on 36 digs, 23 assists, 4 blocks, 5 aces, and 24 kills in match one, and recorded a .298 hitting percentage on 39 digs, 39 assists, 3 blocks, 10 aces, and 44 kills in the second match.

UAM vs. EU
FIRST SET (17-25 EU, EU leads 1-0)
The opening set began evenly matched with Arkansas-Monticello and Evangel tied 4-4. The Valors pulled ahead with six points to push them into a 10-5 advantage. The Blossoms worked to cut the deficit to three, but couldn't hold on for the remainder of the match. The Valors would take set one 25-17 over the Blossoms.

SECOND SET (15-25 EU, EU leads 2-0)
The second set looked to be similar to the first. The Blossoms and Valors were tied 8-8, but Evangel responded with a 7-0 rally. The Valors wouldn't relinquish control of the set, ending with a 3-0 rally, to win 25-15.

THIRD SET (11-25 EU, EU wins 3-0)
Evangel had complete control of the third set with a 12-0 lead. UAM struggled to find their momentum as the Valors went on to outscore the Blossoms, winning the set, 25-11, and taking the match, 3-0.
 

UAM vs. CBC
FIRST SET (25-13 UAM, UAM leads 1-0)
The opening set began with Arkansas-Monticello controlling the scoreboard early, 8-3. The Mustangs soon found momentum and brought the set to 11-8. The Blossoms seemed to pull away after a 3-0 rally and didn't let up, eventually taking the set 25-13, to lead 1-0.

SECOND SET (25-15 UAM, UAM leads 2-0)
Set two opened with the Mustangs taking the early advantage, 0-3. UAM quickly fought back to battle back-and-forth with Central Baptist, making it a 15-12 match. The Blossoms pushed forth with a 7-0 rally to seal the deal, taking set two, 25-15 over the Mustangs. 

THIRD SET (25-23 UAM, UAM wins 3-0)
The third set began as an evenly matched battle between the Blossoms and Mustangs, 5-5. Central Baptist pushed ahead with a 7-0 rally, but UAM quickly responded with a 6-0 rally of their own, to bring the match 12-11 in favor of the Mustangs. It would be a back-and-forth battle between the two teams for the remainder of the set. The Blossoms claimed set three, 25-23, and the match win, 3-0.

UP NEXT
The Blossoms will return to action on Saturday, September 20, at the Christian Brothers University Tri-Match in Memphis, Tennessee. Arkansas-Monticello will take on Christian Brothers Univeristy at 11:00 a.m. followed by Alcorn State University at 1:00 p.m. inside the Canale Arena.
