MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Arkansas-Monticello Volleyball team is preparing for its final pre-GAC matches this weekend, as they head to Memphis, Tennessee, for the Christian Brothers University Tri-Match. The Blossoms will take the court on Saturday morning to face off against tri-match host Christian Brothers University at 11:00 a.m., then will close the day with Alcorn State University at 1:00 p.m.

"We've been able to see a lot of different teams this preseason and we get to finish with two more talented teams," said Head Coach Arlicia Ortiz. "It's going to be competitive and fun and a great last weekend trip before we start conference."

All-TIME SERIES
Christian Brothers University - This will be the 19th meeting between the Blossoms and the Lady Bucs, with CBU holding a 10-8 record over UAM. Arkansas-Monticello last played the Lady Bucs in September 2023 at home, with CBU sweeping the series (12-25, 22-25, 21-25). 

Alcorn State University - This will be the second time the Blossoms and Lady Braves will face off on the court. Arkansas-Monticello currently leads in the series 1-0, with the sole win coming in September of 2015 in Lorman, Mississippi, via a Blossom sweep (25-20, 25-20, 25-22).
 

LAST MEETING
Christian Brothers University - The Blossoms fell to a CBU sweep (12-25, 22-25, 21-25) in September 2023. The opening set with Christian Brothers saw the Lady Buccaneers take an early lead over the Blossoms. UAM fought back, but would eventually drop the set with a final score of 25-12.UAM turned it around in the second set, scoring the first point and extending their lead to 7-1, following a six-point rally. UAM would extend its lead to 12-4 as the set continued, but saw CBU find its groove. Multiple rallies from the Lady Buccaneers led to a 17-17 game. Unfortunately, the Blossoms would drop the set to CBU with a final score of 25-22. The final set of the match proved to be a dog fight between the two teams, with both scoring multiple rallies and holding the other close. As the set came to a 21-all score, Christian Brother prevailed. Four points to end the match would lead to a 25-21 loss in the set and a 3-0 loss to end the tournament for UAM. Abrielle Jordan led the Blossoms in kills with 8. Jordan Wehr contributed 11 assists in the match, followed by Bruna Silva with 10 of her own. Defensively, the Blossoms continue to be led by Stasha Adams, who had 19 digs.

Alcorn State University - In the 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-22) win over Alcorn in September of 2015, Sydni Schulz led the Blossoms with the second match of at least 20 digs in her UAM career. She had 21 digs, while also adding six kills to her final totals. Carolina Gasparini led the team in the kills category with eight, while Kedra Johnson turned in six. Kya Standford had five kills and three blocks in the win.
 

BLOSSOM SEASON LEADERS

• Heading into this weekends tri-match the Blossoms are lead by; in kills, Sophia Grubbs (49), aces, Brooklynn Meredith (6), digs, Jordan Wehr (85), blocks, Jalen Scroggins (13), and assist, Mia Smalls (90). Leading UAM in double-doubles is Mia Smalls with 6 (consecutive), her latest coming via 10 kills and 11 assist against Southern New Hampshire (9/13).

LAST TIME OUT THIS SEASON

• The Blossoms went 1-1 on Tuesday, September 16, at the Central Baptist College Tri-match. UAM went 0-3 (17-25,15-25, 11-25) against Evangel University (Mo.), followed by a sweep, 3-0, (25-13, 25-15, 25-23) over tri-match host Central Baptist College. Neither of these results counted towards the Blossoms' overall record.
