MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team opened Great American Conference play against the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist Tuesday night as part of its 2025 home opener. The Blossoms could not overcome the power of the defending GAC champions falling 3-0 to the Tigers.
The loss dropped the Blossoms to 3-7 on the season and 0-1 in GAC play, while the Tigers improved to 11-3 and 2-0.
UAM was held to a -.021 hitting percentage on 38 digs, 11 assists, 1 block, 0 aces, and 11 kills.
SET-BY-SET
FIRST SET (25-9 OUA, OUA leads 1-0)
The opening set began with Ouachita Baptist out to a strong start, outscoring the Blossoms, 6-2. Arkansas-Monticello cut the deficit to just two, 9-7, but the Tigers wouldn't relinquish control, taking a six-point advantage, 15-9. The Blossoms would surrender a 10-0 rally, giving the first set to OBU.
SECOND SET (25-8 OUA, OUA leads 2-0)
Set two of the match looked to be a repeat of the first, when the Tigers took an 8-2 lead. The Tigers pulled ahead with nine more points to push them into a 17-6 advantage. Ouachita Baptist controlled the remainder of the set, scoring eight points over the next 10 serves, to win 25-8.
THIRD SET (25-11 OUA, OUA wins 3-0)
In the final set with Ouachita Baptist, the Blossoms once again started the match behind, 14-4. UAM was held to only seven more points and couldn't hold on for the remainder of the match. The Tigers would take set three, 25-11, and the match win over the Blossoms.

The Blossoms are back on the road, continuing Great American Conference play, to Russellville, Arkansas Thursday evening for a meeting with the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech University. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. inside the Tucker Coliseum.
