MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team continues GAC action this Thursday, September 25, and Saturday, September 27, as they take on the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech University and the Lady Bisons of Harding University. Thursday's match up with the Golden Suns is set for a 6:00 p.m. serve inside Tucker Coliseum, and the matchup with the Lady Bisons on Saturday is set for 1:00 p.m. inside the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
All-TIME SERIES
Arkansas Tech University - This will be the 44th meeting between the Blossoms and the Golden Suns. Arkansas Tech holds a 35-8 record over UAM. The last meeting between the Blossoms and the Tigers took place on November 4 in Russellville and resulted in a 3-0 (14-25, 14-25, 17-25) loss for UAM. The last win for the ladies in green and white was a 3-1 decision on November 6, 2023, at home in Steelman. At home, the Blossoms trail 6-14, and away they trail 2-19, with an 8-32 overall conference record.
Harding University - This will be the 43rd meeting between the Blossoms and the Lady Bisons. Harding holds a 1-41 record over UAM. The last meeting between the Blossoms and the Lady Bisons was on October 31 in Searcy, resulting in a 3-0 (9-25, 16-25, 21-25) loss for UAM. The last win for the ladies in green and white came via a sweep on November 12, 2015, at home in Steelman. At home, the Blossoms trail 1-19, and away they trail 0-21, with a 1-39 overall conference record.
LAST MEETING
Ouachita Baptist University - The Blossoms lost 3-0 to the Golden Suns in November 2024. Arkansas Tech scored first, but the Blossoms were quick to tie the game at 3-3. With the score set at a manageable 8-9, the Golden Suns gained momentum and pulled ahead to 9-16. Arkansas-Monticello could only add five more points, dropping set one 25-14. UAM started down in the count, 2-1, early. After a Blossom unsuccessful attack error challenge (Arkansas-Monticello's challenge), the Golden Suns found an extra point for themselves to take a 3-1 lead. The Blossoms took the first lead of the match thanks to three errors from the Golden Suns for a 5-4 score. The lead so evaporated when ATU took five unanswered points from the Blossoms to make it 7-11. With Arkansas-Monticello down, 9-16 for a second time, the Golden Suns continued to shine against the Blossoms, taking the lead to plus eight, 20-12. After an unsuccessful challenge from Arkansas Tech, UAM found itself down seven, 13-20. ATU would take the set over the Blossoms, 25-14. Arkansas-Monticello took the lead early for the first time, 3-2, but quickly fell to ATU's defense, dropping them behind 4-3. Unlike the last two sets, set three stayed evenly matched with a score of 7-6. The Golden Suns began to pull ahead once more, outscoring UAM with six straight unanswered points, to take a 7-14 lead. For the third time in the match, Arkansas-Monticello saw themselves down 9-16, and the chance for a fourth set was dwindling. Not quitting UAM rallied to get past 14, but it wasn't enough as ATU took the final set, 25-17, and the match 3-0. UAM was held to a .083 hitting percentage on 31 digs, 16 assists, 3 blocks, 3 aces, and 22 kills.
Harding University - The Blossoms were quick to fall behind, 0-3, to the Lady Bisons in the opening set, before adding two points to the board, due to Harding's error. Harding scored five unanswered points late in the set, increasing the lead to 4-12. UAM could only manage five more points to Harding's 13, falling behind in the series, 0-1. Arkansas-Monticello once again saw itself on the wrong side of the scoreboard against Harding early, 0-3. The Blossoms were quick to respond to the bleeding by adding six on the board to tie the set, 6-6. Despite trailing to the Lady Bisons, 9-16, UAM scored four unanswered points to bring the set to 13-16. The rally for the Blossoms to 16-18 would prove futile as the Lady Bisons went on a 7-0 scoring run to win the second set, 16-25. For the first time in the match, the Blossoms took the lead against the Lady Bisons early, 3-2. Despite a strong defense from Harding, Arkansas-Monticello held firm, outscoring the Lady Bisons 9-7, to bring the lead to 12-9. The set saw a tie, 12-12, after the Blossoms allowed Harding to score two straight points. Both sides of the net added four more to tie for the third time at 16-16. A back-and-forth battle commenced, with the set tying twice more before Harding ended the match on a service ace, 25-21. UAM was held to a .121 hitting percentage on 48 digs, 27 assists, 4 blocks, 1 ace, and 28 kills.
