2025 Arkansas-Monticello Blossoms Roster | GAC Volleyball
MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms volleyball (3-9, 0-3 GAC) continue GAC action this week as they split a pair of matches, one on the road the other at home. The week starts for the ladies in green and white on the road Tuesday, September 30, at Henderson State for a meeting with the Reddies at 6:30 p.m. They will play the second and final match of the week on Thursday, October 2 at home in Monticello against the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University at 4:00 p.m. Thursday's match is Pink Out Night with all fans encouraged to wear pink.

*Due to current renovations to Steelman Fieldhouse there are changes in place for the 2025 season, those changes can be found below.*
 

All-TIME SERIES
Henderson State University - 
This is the 40th meeting between the Blossoms and the Reddies. Henderson State leads the series, 25-14. In the last meeting on November 14 in Arkadelphia, UAM lost 3-0 (17-25, 21-25, 16-25). The Blossoms last beat the Reddies on September 15, 2022, with a 3-0 sweep in Arkadelphia. At home, the Blossoms trail 7-13. Away, they are behind 7-12. Their conference record is 13-25.

Southern Arkansas University - This match is the 41st meeting between the Blossoms and the Muleriders. SAU holds a narrow lead, 21-19. Their last matchup was on November 12 in Monticello. UAM lost a close match 3-2 (22-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-22, 4-15) on senior night. The Blossoms' last win came with a 3-2 victory, their seventh straight over SAU, on November 2, 2021, in Magnolia. At home, UAM leads 11-7. They trail 8-12 away. Their overall record is 19-21 in conference play.
 

LAST MEETING
Henderson State University - 
Arkansas-Monticello fell behind early at 3-1, but quickly responded by scoring five straight points to lead 6-3. Henderson State tied the score at 13-13, but the Blossoms held on by two, 15-13. The Reddies put an end to the match with a nine-point run. The Blossoms added just two more points and fell in set one, 17-25. Set two was a battle, with both teams leading once before tying at 4-4. The Blossoms fell behind 11-13, and another five-point run for HSU made things worse. The Blossoms started a rally, outscoring the Reddies 9-4 to cut the deficit to 20-23. The late rally was not enough, and HSU won set two, 21-25. Needing to win set three to stay alive, the Blossoms were down 2-9 early. UAM recorded five points to bring the set to 7-13. The Blossoms could not stop HSU's offense, who outscored them 7-1, making the score 20-8. A four-point run for the Blossoms brought it to 12-20, but the Reddies answered with their own four-point run, making it 12-24. With HSU needing one point to end UAM's season, the Blossoms rallied with another four unanswered, 16-24. However, their rally ended on a UAM attack error. HSU took the set, 16-25, and the match, 3-0. Arkansas-Monticello was held to a .148 hitting percentage on 33 digs, 35 assists, 5 blocks, 3 aces, and 35 kills.

Southern Arkansas University - UAM struck first, taking an early 7-4 lead over SAU. With the score at 12-9 for the Blossoms, the Muleriders began to take control. After allowing five points, SAU led the set 12-14. The Blossoms cut SAU's lead to 24-21, but managed only one more kill. SAU won the set, 22-25. In the second set, the Blossoms trailed early, 4-3. After tying at 4, SAU scored 12 to UAM's five, making it 9-16. After trading points to 11-18, the Blossoms had a 7-point rally, closing the gap to 18-19. The rally was not enough, as the Muleriders outscored the Blossoms 7-3 to win, 21-25. After a 5-minute set change, UAM led 4-1 early in the third set. The Blossoms held an 8-6 lead before a four-point run put SAU ahead 8-10. SAU continued to dominate, taking six unanswered points to bring the score to 14-21. The Blossoms fought back, allowing just three points to SAU's 12 to win the set, 26-24. UAM needed to win set four to force a fifth. Down 11-7, the Blossoms mounted a comeback and scored nine points on 10 serves to lead 16-12. SAU tried to rally, but UAM held on and took the set 25-22. Forced into their third five-set match of the season, the Blossoms struggled to regain momentum. SAU led throughout, allowing just four points to the Blossoms. SAU took the fifth set, 4-15, and the match, 3-2. Arkansas-Monticello was held to a .156 hitting percentage on 102 digs, 52 assists, 8 blocks, 8 aces, and 57 kills.
 

BLOSSOMS BY THE NUMBERS

  • Arkansas-Monticello has played 33 sets this season, averaging a .076 hitting percentage. The team averages 15.39 digs, 8.45 kills, 7.55 assists, 0.88 blocks, and 1.42 service aces per set.
  • Sophia Grubbs ranks eighth in the conference in kills, averaging 3.04 kills in 24 sets played.
  • Brooklynn Meredith ranks third in the conference in serving aces, averaging 0.52 aces in 21 sets played.
  • Jordan Wehr ranks eighth in the conference in digs, averaging 3.83 digs in 30 sets played.

BLOSSOM SEASON LEADERS
The Blossoms are led on the court by; kills, Sophia Grubbs (75), aces, Brooklynn Meredith (11), digs, Mia Smalls (125), blocks, Jalen Scroggins (15), and assists, Mia Smalls (142). Leading UAM in double-doubles is Mia Smalls with eight, with one triple-double. Smalls is also currently the only player in the conference with a triple-double. The Lone Star native earned the feat against Christian Brothers (9/20/25) with 10 kills, 13 assists, and 11 digs.
 

LAST TIME OUT THIS SEASON
The Blossoms went 0-2 the last time out. Falling to both Arkansas Tech University and Harding University. On Thursday, September 25, UAM fell 0-3 (6-25, 16-25, 20-25) to the Golden Suns of ATU, followed by a 0-3 (4-25, 18-25, 13-25) loss to Harding University's Lady Bisons on Saturday, September 27.

ENTRANCE, RESTROOMS AND CONCESSIONS CHANGES

  • Due to current renovations to Steelman Fieldhouse, the following have been changed:
    • The entrance for the 2025 season will be on the west side of Steelman next to the football field. Home fans will have to wait between serves to cross to the home bleachers once the match commences.
    • Portable bathrooms for all fans are on the opposite side of the Steelman next to the baseball field.
    • There will be no concessions available for home matches, and outside food and drinks will not be allowed into the gym.
