RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced its 2026 preseason coaches poll on Tuesday afternoon. Veteran Head Coach
John Harvey and the rest of the Weevil baseball program were voted to finish 5th overall.
With 82 total points, Arkansas-Monticello sits five points behind Henderson State University and 14 points ahead of Ouachita Baptist University. Arkansas-Monticello closed out the 2025 campaign in the NCAA Regionals in Mankato, Minnesota. UAM closed out the season with a 7-2 loss to Minnesota State University, Mankato, finishing with a 33-23 overall record and a 21-12 mark in Great American Conference play.
With 115 total points and six first-place votes, Arkansas Tech was voted the preseason favorite for the 2026 season, followed by Harding with 110 points and five first-place votes, and Southern Arkansas with 102 points and one first-place vote. The remainder of the poll was as follows: Henderson State (87) in fourth, Ouachita Baptist (68) in sixth, Northwestern Oklahoma State (59) in seventh, Oklahoma Baptist (58) in eighth, Southeastern Oklahoma State (47) in ninth, Southwestern Oklahoma State (31) in tenth, East Central (22) in eleventh, and Southern Nazarene (11) in twelfth.

uamsports.com. The Boll Weevils will open the year on the road in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with three games at the Dugan Invitational. UAM will compete against three Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) conference schools to start the season, starting with Fort Hays State on Jan. 30. The Boll Weevils will have a rematch against Pittsburg State, who knocked UAM into the elimination bracket in the 2025 Regionals, on Jan. 31, followed by a final game against Missouri Southern on Feb. 2.
Following the Hot Springs trip, the team returns to Weevils Field at Union Bank Park for a non-conference game and the season's home opener against Gulf South Conference member Christian Brothers University. Three days later the Weevils will see their only four-game series, and final non-conference series, of the season as they welcome MIAA member Northwest Missouri State for a weekend tournament, playing a solo contest on Friday Feb. 6, a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 7, and a final solo game on Sunday, Feb. 8.
