Blossoms Come Up Short to Bison in Shawnee

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team traveled to Oklahoma Baptist University for an evening meeting with the Bison. The Blossoms came out of the contest with a 65-60 loss. 

Alyssa Batton led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (6-13, 1-12 GAC), posting 19 points in the matchup. Batton hit 7-14 total field goals, two three-pointers, and 3-6 free throws on the afternoon. She also contributed three defensive rebounds in her 38 minutes played, along with an assist.

Brilynn Findley, Taleigha Ealy, and Jena Warden were the final Blossoms in the double-digits, scoring 10 points apiece. Findley hit 4-7 field goals and two three-pointers while grabbing five defensive rebounds, three assists, and a block. Ealy hit 4-4 field goals and 2-2 free throws while grabbing five total rebounds, two blocks, and an assist. Warden hit 4-10 field goals, one three-pointer, and 1-2 free throws while grabbing one defensive rebound, two blocks, two steals, and an assist.

Oklahoma Baptist (10-9, 6-7 GAC) was led by Jaedyn Getman with 21 points.

The opening half of the game was a battle throughout, seeing Arkansas-Monticello and Oklahoma Baptist exchange baskets back-and-forth in the opening quarter. After four lead changes, the Bison prevailed, outscoring the Blossoms 19-12. The Bison increased their advantage to nine points, outscoring the Blossoms 13 points to 11 in the second quarter. The teams would head to the locker room at the half with UAM trailing, 32-23.

Arkansas-Monticello returned from the half, driven to cut the Bison's lead, scoring 20 points compared to Oklahoma Baptist's 17. The Bison kept their advantage to six points, leading 49-43 heading into the final quarter. The Blossoms once again outscored the Bison in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to five points. As the time ran out, UAM came up just short, concluding the game with a 65-60 loss.

Arkansas-Monticello committed 20 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
