Blossoms Close Henderson Series With Losses

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Arkansas-Monticello's softball team closed out the final two games of their three-game slate with the Reddies of Henderson State University on Saturday afternoon. The Blossoms fell in the Saturday doubleheader, 7-2 in game one, and 2-1 in game two to drop the series, 2-1.

Game 2, 7 Innings

Scoring Recap:
Henderson State was first on the board in game two courtesy of a UAM wild pitch.

Thanks to a Reddies error in the fourth, Dacia Sexton crossed home to score the first run for the Blossoms in the game.

HSU added five runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to make it 7-1, Reddies.

Zoe Bridges placed UAM's final run on the board in the 7th with a solo shot home run over the left center wall.

Pitching Performances
- Makenzie Martin started for the Blossoms in the circle, allowing three runs on five hits in her 4.1 innings of work.
- Kayla Olthouse was called from the bullpen and allowed three runs on four hits in her four batters faced.
- Jadyn Barger closed for UAM, allowing just one run on three hits in her 1.2 innings of work.

Offensive Showcase
- Zoe Bridges 1-for-3 with a home run, 1 RBI, and one run scored.
- Jolie Bazan 2-for-3 with a double.
- Ashlynne Vote 1-for-3 with a double.

Scoring Recap:
The Reddies once again were first on the board off a single to left field.

Arkansas-Monticello's loan run came in the seventh as Lexi Livezey singled, and a throwing error from HSU plated Maddie Moore.

The final run of the series came via the Reddies and a single to center, ending the game 2-1, and the series 2-1 in favor of HSU.
Pitching Performances
- Kayla Olthouse started for the Blossoms and suffered the loss in the circle. Allowing two runs on six hits, striking out 2 batters in her 6.2 innings of work.

Offensive Showcase
- Maddie Moore 1-for-3 with one run scored.

The Blossoms return home to Alvy Early Softball Field next Friday, March 6, for their first home Great American Conference meeting. The ladies in green and white will take on the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech under the lights beginning at 6:00 p.m.
