Women's Basketball Falls on Senior Day to Ouachita Baptist

MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team hosted the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist Saturday afternoon inside Steelman Field House for the final match of the season. The Blossoms came out of the Senior Day contest with a heartbreaking 56-51 loss to Ouachita Baptist.

Following the game, UAM Athletics and the Women's Basketball team honored our graduating senior, Alindsey Long.

Senior Alindsey Long led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (6-22,1-21 GAC) in her final game with the program, scoring 11 points on the afternoon. Long was 4-11 on total field goals, going 3-4 from distance. She grabbed four defensive rebounds, one steal, and had one assist.

Alyssa Batton was the other Blossom in double-digits, grabbing 10 points of her own. Batton was4-12 on field goals with one three-pointer and 1-5 free throws hit. She also had three total rebounds.

Ouachita Baptist (14-12,11-11 GAC) was led by Samantha Watson with 22 points.

The Tigers dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Blossoms 17 points to 9 in the opening 10-minute period. UAM found some momentum in the second quarter, scoring 10 points to the Tigers' 8. The teams were sent to the locker room with Arkansas-Monticello trailing 25-19.

The second half mirrored the first, as the Tigers would outscore the Blossoms in the third period, and UAM would outscore OUA in the fourth. Arkansas-Monticello entered the fourth trailing by 12 points, but tied the game up with 3:41 on the clock thanks to a jumper from Nicole Weaver. The contest would, unfortunately, close with a 56-51 loss to end the season

Arkansas-Monticello committed 16 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
