Weevils Sweep Saturday Doubleheader to Take Series Over Harding

MONTICELLO, Ark. -- The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team took on Harding University in a conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The Boll Weevils saw Camden Tanner walk off game one in the bottom of the tenth with a three-run shot to right center, followed by an 11-5 win in game two to sweep the doubleheader and take the series, 2-1.

Scoring Recap:
Camden Tanner kicked off the scoring in game two, hitting a lead-off home run in the first inning to take the early lead. Eli Marvin scored a second run for UAM when Kyle Tolley walked with the bases loaded.

Harding retook the lead over the second and third innings, scoring one in the second on a sac fly, and three runs in the third on a ground out RBI and a two-RBI double down the line in left.

The Weevils scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth on a Kyle Tolley double that scored Darcy Barry, a two-RBI single from Camden Tanner that scored AJ Keely and Kyle Tolley, and an RBI from Elijah Olaybal to make it a 6-4 ball game.

A two-run home run in the eighth for the Bisons tied the game up.

Camden Tanner ended the contest in the bottom of the tenth with his second home run of the game, driving in three runs in walk-off fashion.

Pitching Performances:
- Bryce Louis started game two of the series with 5.1 innings thrown with two earned runs on six hits. He struck out two batters and two walks.
- Nathan McManus totaled 2.2 innings on the afternoon, allowing two earned runs on two hits with a strikeout and a walk.
- John White grabbed his fourth win of the season, throwing 2.0 innings with no runs allowed on one hit. He struck out three batters.

Offensive Showcase:
- Camden Tanner - 3-for-6 with 2 home runs, 6 RBI, and 3 runs scored
- Eli Marvin - 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored
- Darcy Barry - 1-for-2 with a double, 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and 1 HBP

Scoring Recap:
Harding was first on the board for game three, with a single to left center.

Camden Tanner led off for the Weevils in the bottom of the first with a home run to right-center. Three more runs would score for the Weevils, Daniel Lizarraga crossed home off an Elijah Olaybal double to right center. Olaybal saw home off a two-run home run to center field from Eli Marvin.

The Bisons tied the game at 4-4 off a single to right center and a double down the left field line.

Arkansas-Monticello blew the game wide open, placing five runs in the bottom of the second to make it a 9-4 ball game. Caden Carney was the first Weevil home off a ground out to second base, Gabe Kuttenkuler rounded home as Lizarraga doubled down the left field line. A sacrifice fly from Marvin platted Lizarraga. Darcy Barry brought in the last two runs of the inning, with a single to the left side scoring Jackson Riedling and Olaybal.

The Boll Weevils scored two more runs between the third and fourth innings, on a sacrifice fly that scored Kuttenkuler and an error from Harding that allowed  Barry to triple and find his way home.

The final run of the game came off the bat of a Bison, who homered to right-center.

The Weevils took the game 11-5, and the series 2-1.

Pitching Performances:
- Vincent Segovia started on the mound, securing the win, for the rubber match with 5.0 innings thrown, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits. He struck out 4 batters, seeing 22 hitters.
- Christian Hubbard got the call to pitch 1 inning, allowing 1 hit in his 4 batters faced.
- Joshua Tribe closed the game for the Weevils, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1 batter, in his 1.0 inning of work.

Offensive Showcase:
- Camden Tanner - 2-for-4 with 1 home run, 2 RBI, and 1 run scored
- Elijah Olaybal  - 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 1 2B
- Darcy Barry - 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, 1 run, 1 3B, and 1 stolen base
- Eli Marvin - 1-for-2 with 3 RBI, 1 home run, and 1 run scored
- Daniel Lizarraga - 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, and 1 2B
