MONTICELLO, Ark. - Arkansas-Monticello's softball team is preparing to host the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist University, Thursday, April 2, and Friday, April 3, at Alvy Early Field at Ryburn Park. So as not to overlap with the holiday weekend, the Blossoms will play a doubleheader Thursday starting at 3:00 p.m., followed by a series finale on Friday with a 12:00 p.m. first pitch.

LAST MEETING
The Blossoms fell the last time out against the Tigers, 1-2. The Tigers quickly scored the first run of the game in game one, off a sacrifice fly in the top of the first. The Blossoms tied the game in the third, adding their lone run to the board, as Jadyn Hart singled down the left field line, scoring Lainey Tippen. With the game tied one a piece, OBU would find the momentum to add six runs in the fifth. The final run of the game crossed in favor of Ouachita in the sixth, helping the Tigers to an 8-1 victory. The Blossoms were first on the board in game two, scoring two runs in the second. Jessica Smith ran in on a Lauren Spoon double to centerfield. Spoon would cross home as Lainey Tippen doubled to the right side. Ouachita got on in the third, scoring two runs off a single to second base. Spoon would reach first on a fielding error that would plate Smith for the third and final run for UAM. The Tigers would score their remaining four runs in the fourth inning, winning the game 6-3 in seven innings. UAM scored the first four runs of game three in innings one and two. Lexie Livezey commenced the scoring, crossing home as Sophie Wood singled up the middle. Wood herself came home as Maddie Pfleging singled up the middle in the first. Dacia Sexton tripled down the right-field line in the second to score Lainey Tippen and Lauren Spoon. The Tigers scored three runs in the second and one in the fifth to tie the game, 4-4. The Blossoms began to clip the claws of the Tigers, scoring four runs in the seventh to take a 9-4 lead. Makenzie Martin ran in on a bases-loaded hit by pitch walk. Pfelging singled up the middle, bringing home Jadyn Hart, followed by a Tippen single that brought in Vyanna Quezada and Jade Keaton. The final run for Arkansas-Monticello was achieved by Pfelging scoring on a Dacia Sexton single to left. The Tigers would not go out quietly, scoring four runs themselves in the bottom of the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough to top the Blossoms, who would win, 9-8.  Makenzie Martin took the win for the game, pitching 2.0 innings, while allowing four runs on five hits, while Kayla Olthouse earned the save, pitching 0.2 innings and facing two batters.
