UAM Falls to Delta State, 7-8, in Extras Tuesday Night

CLEVELAND, Miss. - Arkansas-Monticello baseball was back on the diamond Tuesday evening, in Cleveland, Mississippi, for its third meeting with the Statesmen of Delta State University. A closely fought contest saw the Weevils play to the 11th inning, falling 7-8.

Scoring Recap:
Delta State added the first runs of the game in the bottom of the first off a single and a UAM error.

The Weevils tied the game in the second as Kyle Tolley grounded out to score Darcy Barry. Two more runs were placed on the board in the third as Barry singled to center field, bringing in Elijah Olaybal and Camden Tanner.

The Statesmen stretched the lead, adding four more runs between the bottom of the third and the bottom of the sixth.

Heading into the seventh down three, Jackson Riedling singled to right field, moving Daniel Lizarraga home. Riedling stole second, causing DSU to commit a throwing error, allowing Marvin to score before rounding home himself, tying the game.
Tied at six apiece, the Weevils and Statesmen entered extra innings. Elijah Olayball broke the three-inning stalemate by reaching on a fielder's choice, allowing Caden Carney to score from second.

Delta walked off the game in their half of the inning with a double to right center, taking the contest 8-7 and the non-conference series 2-1.

Pitching Performances:
- Max French opened the game on the mound for the Weevils, pitching 3.2 innings. He allowed five runs on six hits, striking out one batter in the process.
-Tyler Vincent entered the game and faced six batters in his 1.1 innings of work.
-Cody Graf was called from the bullpen and pitched 3.0 innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out three batters in the process.
-Nathan McManus was brought in to relief, pitching 2.1 innings with just one hit and three strikeouts, suffering the setback on the mound.
-Christian Hubbard entered in the 11th inning, with two runs allowed on one hit.

Offensive Showcase:
- Darcy Barry - 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, and one run scored.
- Jackson Riedling - 1-for-4 with 1 SB, 1 RBI, and one run scored.
- Daniel Lizarraga - 2-for-5 with 2 SB and one run scored.

Arkansas-Monticello will continue their stretch of road games Friday, April 10 as they head to Durant, Oklahoma for GAC play with the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. First pitch of game one is set for 3:00 p.m.
