MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team opened its 2026 campaign on Thursday afternoon in Magnolia, Arkansas. The Blossoms dropped a three-set match to Texas A&M-Kingsville inside the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
FIRST SET (25-16 TAMK, TAMK leads 1-0)
The Blossoms came out firing in the opening set, with
Ella Cline recording a service ace before
Jalen Scroggins followed with a kill to give UAM an early 2-0 advantage. The teams traded points through a 5-5 tie before Texas A&M-Kingsville began to pull away. The Javelinas used a 6-1 stretch to take an 11-6 lead before extending the advantage to 20-12. Arkansas-Monticello answered with three consecutive points, highlighted by a kill from
Isabella Garcia, to pull within five at 20-15. TAMK responded by taking five of the final six points to claim the opening set, 25-16.
SECOND SET (25-13 TAMK, TAMK leads 2-0)
Arkansas-Monticello opened the second set on a 5-0 run. Back-to-back attack errors from the Javelinas and a block from both
Jalen Scroggins and
Summer Stephens helped spark the run before Stephens and Scroggins each added kills. UAM maintained the advantage at 9-6 before TAMK responded with four straight points to take a 10-9 lead. The Blossoms remained within three at 13-10, but the Javelinas closed the set on a 12-3 run to take the set, 25-13.
THIRD SET (25-18 TAMK, TAMK wins 3-0)
UAM once again took the lead early in the third set. A service ace from
Sophia Grubbs and a kill from
Isabella Garcia helped UAM build a 4-2 advantage. After TAMK moved ahead 6-5, Arkansas-Monticello responded with three consecutive points to regain the lead at 8-6. The Blossoms continued to battle, using kills from Grubbs and Scroggins and a service ace from
Maelie Cooke to build a 14-11 advantage. UAM held its final lead of the set at 16-14 before the Javelinas responded with five unanswered points to move ahead 19-16. Texas A&M-Kingsville carried the momentum through the closing stretch, taking nine of the final 11 points to win the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
