MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team lost its first home game of the 2010 season to continue its season opening winless streak with a 3-1 loss to Lyon College on Wednesday.
Final game scores were 22-25, 26-24, 20-25 and 21-25. The Cotton Blossoms drop to 0-9 overall, while the Scots improve to 6-9.
Leading the UAM offensive attack was sophomore MacKenzie Hubbard, who racked up 13 kills on 33 attempts with six errors for a final .212 hitting percentage. Freshman Mollie Cagle followed close behind with 10 kills on 28 attempts.
Senior Stephanie Hatten and Hubbard paced the back row in defense with 17 and 13 digs, respectively.
For the Scots, Meghann LaBorn totaled a match-high 15 kills on 27 attempts with only two errors for a final .481 hitting percentage. Audrey Meyers and Suzanne Finchman each added 11 kills.
Defensively for the Scots, Chelsea Hinton had a match-high 18 digs.
The Cotton Blossoms break for the weekend before traveling to Livingston, Ala. on Monday, September 20 for a non-conference match against West Alabama. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
