BLOSSOMS END SEASON WITH LOSS TO NO. 5 DELTA STATE

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team ended the 2010-11 season with a 92-58 loss to No. 5 Delta State on Saturday inside Walter Sillers Coliseum.

Junior Jerica Hubbard led the Cotton Blossoms (6-20, 2-12 Gulf South Conference) with 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while also leading the team with seven rebounds. Junior Alex Hart also reached double-digits with 10 points. Sophomore Erica Williams added nine points off the bench.

The Lady Statesmen (24-2, 12-2 GSC) placed four scorers in double-figures, led by a game-high 20-point, 10-rebound effort from Veronica Walker off the bench. Shameka Russell and Bug Cooper also posted double-doubles. Russell had 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Cooper had 14 points and 11 assists.

UAM finished the contest shooting 42 percent from the field (23-of-55), 12 percent on three-pointers (2-of-17) and 77 percent on foul shots (10-of-13). DSU shot 58 percent from the field (34-of-59), 43 percent on three-pointers (6-of-14) and 69 percent on foul shots (18-of-26).
