BLOSSOMS CONTINUE ROAD STRUGGLES IN LOSS TO LADY BUCS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team continued its losing skid with a 64-56 loss to Christian Brothers on Thursday at Canale Arena.

The Cotton Blossoms (6-14, 2-6 Gulf South Conference) struggled from the field throughout the game to tally its sixth straight loss since winning the first two conference games of the season. UAM shot 30 percent in the first half and 32 percent in the second half for a final game total of 31 percent (19-of-61). The loss drops UAM to 0-9 in true road games this season.

The Lady Bucs (8-12, 1-7 GSC) captured their first conference win of the season by shooting 42 percent from the field (20-of-48), 43 percent on three-pointers (6-of-14) and 67 percent at the foul line (18-of-27).

Junior Alex Hart led the Cotton Blossoms with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, including two of UAM’s three total three-pointers. Junior Channon Haywood was UAM’s only other player to reach double-digits with 14 points off the bench.

CBU’s Normanique Johnson led all scorers with 18 points, while Casey Gregory added a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Cotton Blossoms have their first Saturday off since conference play began, returning to action next Thursday, February 10 in Arkadelphia, Ark. against Henderson State. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center. UAM defeated the Lady Reddies 82-78 in overtime on January 13 in Monticello.
