WEEVILS DOWN WONDER BOYS 3-2 IN MAGNOLIA

Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The UAM baseball team got a non-conference win over Arkansas Tech this afternoon at Goodheart Field.

The Weevils (3-1) got off to a good start with two runs in the top of the first. Hunter Allday drove in both with a double to right after Danny Loya and Wayne Hawkins reached on a single and a walk. UAM scored again in the third off an Allday single that scored Loya, who reached on an error in the leadoff spot.

Arkansas Tech (2-3) got single runs in the fourth and fifth innings off a passed ball and a bases-loaded walk, but neither team scored again as the final four innings went scoreless.

Allday had two hits on the day with all three RBI for the Weevils. Danny Loya scored twice with one hit. Wayne Hawkins scored his one run on two hits. Kenny Marshall (2-0) got the win in five innings of work, striking out seven and allowing two hits in 24 batters faced.  Brent Noble got his first save of the season in four innings allowing three hits and no runs in 16 batters faced.

The Weevils will return to action tomorrow evening as they take on Southern Arkansas in a non-conference matchup at Goodheart Field in Magnolia. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m.
