Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The UAM women’s basketball team fell 52-71 tonight at Southwestern Oklahoma State.

The Blossoms (12-11, 5-8 GAC) scored just 17 points in the second half, surrendering a 35-33 lead at the break off 23-percent shooting from the floor, including going 0-for-4 from three in the period.

UAM got their first lead of the night with 9:13 remaining in the first half, but could never get a lead of more than five points. With 11:32 remaining Southwestern (14-9, 9-4 GAC) retook the lead and did not relinquish it again.

Chelsea Johnson led the way for the Blossoms with 17 points in the full 40 minutes of play, she was 7-of-16 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Channon Haywood finished with 11 points in 15 minutes. Michelle Fisher led all scorers with 22 points in 35 minutes for the Lady Bulldogs.

UAM shot 48-percent from the floor in the first half, but the cool second half put them at 35-percent for the game. The only three pointer the Blossoms hit came from Ariel Billington in the first half, they finished 1-of-11 as a team. The free throw shooting was the only solid figure at 81-percent, 13-of-16.

The Blossoms will take on East Central in Ada, Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
