Box Score ADA, Okla. – The UAM women’s basketball team came away with the 20-point win over East Central University today in Ada.
The Blossoms (9-14, 5-8 GAC) took control early in this one and did not look back. The first couple of possessions went back-and-forth until the score was tied at 5-5. Taylor Clark hit a three that sparked an 11-0 run by UAM that put them solidly ahead for the rest of the day.
UAM shot 50-percent from the floor in the first half, giving them a 36-19 lead at the half. The shooting cooled to 30-percent in the second half, but ECU (7-17, 5-9 GAC) shot just 33-percent for the game. The Blossoms went 20-of-49 (40-percent) from the floor, including 5-of-12 from three (41-percent) for the game. They hit 20-of-26 free throws for 76-percent from the line.
Taylor Clark led all scorers with 15 points in 34 minutes. Candace Virgadamo was right behind at 12 points while Channon Haywood added 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. ECU was paced by Dilan Webster with 10 points and eight rebounds.
UAM will return to the home court of Steelman Field House this Monday as they host Southern Arkansas at 5:30 p.m.
