Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. – The UAM Cotton Blossoms defeated Harding University 74-59 on Senior Night.

The Blossoms (11-14, 7-8 GAC) trailed by as many as six early in the first half tonight. With 11:04 left in the period Harding (16-9, 9-6 GAC) went up 7-13 off a free throw, but an 8-2 run tied the game at 15 with 8:27 left and the Blossoms did not trail again.

UAM stretched their lead to 14 by the time the buzzer sounded on the first half, as senior Chelsea Johnson hit her second three of the half with one second remaining to give UAM the 35-21 lead over the Lady Bison.

Harding never got closer than 14 again as the Blossoms cruised to the decisive win. They shot 46-percent for the game, going 27-of-58 from the field including 9-of-22 from three for 40-percent. Harding shot 22-of-54 and went 5-of-16 from three. Both teams were almost even at the foul line with UAM hitting 11-of-13 (84-pecent) to Harding’s 10-of-17 (58-percent).

UAM’s seniors led the way in their final game at Steelman Field House. Chelsea Johnson led all scores with 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including six three-pointers. Alex Hart added 14 on 5-of-11 shooting and Channon Haywood was 6-of-8 for 14 points. Taylor Clark added five points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals for her home finale and Jerica Hubbard chipped in four points with an assist and a steal.

Tonight’s win was the final home game for Alex Hart, Jasmine Rush, Taylor Clark, Chelsea Johnson, Channon Haywood and Jerica Hubbard, but the season is not over yet. The Blossoms have one more regular season contest at Ouachita Baptist on Saturday afternoon before the opening of the GAC Basketball Tournament next week in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
