REDDIES TAKE SERIES FINALE, 7-1

Box Score Game 3

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The UAM baseball team dropped the final game of the three-game series today at Henderson State 7-1.

UAM (13-14, 3-8 GAC) got on the board in the top of the first. Taylor Eaves led off getting hit by a pitch from the Reddie (14-13, 5-7 GAC) pitcher, Brittain Diamond. Christian Gallegos moved him into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, ready for Danny Loya to drive him home with a single. But the Weevils ended the inning on back-to-back strikeouts.

They held the one run lead until the fourth inning when the Reddie bats woke up. A two-run homerun from Michael Corso gave HSU the lead and they never looked back. Two more runs in the sixth put them up 4-1 heading into the late innings.

Henderson State put the game firmly out of reach in the eighth inning, posting three more runs. The Weevils managed just four hits on the day and were unable to get anymore runs across.

Russell Watts took the loss in 3.1 innings of work. He gave up two hits in the appearance, including the homerun in the fourth, he walked three and struck four batters out. Chris Guzman, Eddie Smith, and Brent Noble all pitched in relief, no one for more two innings.

The Weevils will remain on the road this week as they travel to Batesville to take on Lyon College in a mid-week single. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
