Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Game 1 | Game 2

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The UAM baseball team lost both games of today’s GAC doubleheader, 14-9 and 6-0, to the Ouachita Baptist Tigers.

UAM (16-18, 4-7 GAC) got off to a hot start in game one, leading 9-2 going into the sixth inning. Hunter Allday got things going with an RBI single to left in the first. Taylor Walker tacked on two more run two batters later with a single up the middle to give the Weevils the early 3-0 lead.

Danny Loya and Josh Chism each drove in a run in the bottom of the second before OBU (15-16, 4-9 GAC) could muster an answer. They got two runs in the third off a two-run homerun from Brock Green. The third saw the Weevils score one run on no hits after Taylor Eaves was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

UAM got three more in the fourth off three hits, one from Allday to right, one from Walker to left, and a final run off a Justin Hollis sacrifice fly. It was the last run of the day for the Weevils. OBU’s pitchers gave up no hits from the fifth inning on in game one, while their bats came alive.

Down 9-2, OBU rattled off 12 runs in the final four innings of the opener. They had five in the sixth that chased starter Kenny Marshall out of the game. The Tigers took the lead in the seventh with a four-run inning off Eddie Smith. The UAM hurler gave up four runs on three hits in one inning of work, taking the loss for the Weevils.

The troubles in game one continued into game two, as the Weevils put up six hits but could not get on the board as the Tigers continued to roll to an easy 6-0 win. Josh Chism went the full seven innings in the second game, giving up six runs on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

The two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow afternoon with a single nine-inning game at 1 p.m.
