ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The UAM baseball team dropped an 8-7 decision in 11 innings today to Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia.

The Weevils (15-22) and Tigers (20-19) went back-and-forth all afternoon, with UAM striking first in the top of the first inning. Taylor Eaves led the game with a single and scored from second thanks to a Danny Loya single to center.

OBU scored the next four runs to take a 4-1 lead into the fourth inning. Justin Hollis drove in Mark Mitchell in the top of the inning to get one run back, 4-2. Then, the Weevils retook the lead in the fifth with two singles to the outfield with men on the paths. Hunter Allday got a shot to left that plated Loya and Tino Trujillo singled to center to drive in Allday and Josh Chism.

The Tigers tied the game in the seventh off a sacrifice fly to left and regained the lead with a two-run eighth thanks to a pair of singles to left.

UAM sent the game into extra innings in the top of the ninth thanks to a leadoff walk to Taylor Eaves and an OBU error that put Christian Gallegos on for Danny Loya. Loya drove in the tying runs with a double to center field to knot the game at seven.

OBU won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning with a single and a pair of doubles off Christian Gallegos. The UAM hurler took the loss in 2.2 innings of work, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

The Weevils will not have to wait long to put this one behind them as they return home to take on Delta State tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Weevils Field.
