ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – True freshman Kedra Johnson tied a University of Arkansas at Monticello record with 10 block assists in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Henderson State to give the Blossoms their first Great American Conference victory of the 2013 season. Final game scores were 25-13, 25-12, 19-25, 21-25 and 15-12.

Johnson also recorded her first career double-double in the win, tallying 11 kills on 20 attempts with only three errors for a .400 hitting percentage. Her 10 block assists ranks second all-time on the GAC single-match charts.

The Blossoms (8-9, 1-3 GAC) started strong, hitting .524 in the first set with 12 kills and only one error on 21 attempts. Although dropping to .200 in the second set, UAM was able to take advantage of HSU's poor hitting to take a 2-0 advantage. The Lady Reddies (1-11, 0-4 GAC) hit -.310 in the second set.

HSU bounced back to take sets three and four taking advantage of UAM's 22 attack errors combined in the two frames. HSU jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the fifth set before UAM rallied to force a 10-all tie. After each team added two more points to tie the score at 12-all, the Blossoms scored three straight points using a pair of HSU errors and a kill from junior Gabriella Jandotti to secure the victory.

Senior Tori Bozzo tied Johnson with 11 kills in the win. Junior Jessica Cuba added eight. Junior Frankie Zaragoza and Cuba paced the UAM defense with 11 and 10 digs, respectively. It was a career-high dig total for Zaragoza after getting the start at libero in the win.

Freshman Brittney Beckham recorded a new career-high with 20 assists in thewin. Senior Haley Goldwater added 13.

Katrina Goulbourne and Sarah Williams led the Lady Reddies with 11 kills each.

The Blossoms are back at home this weekend for a pair of GAC matches – Friday at 7 p.m. against Northwestern Oklahoma State and Saturday at 11 a.m. against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
