MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team fell to West Florida on Monday at home in non-conference action by a final score of 77-58.

The Blossoms controlled the majority of the first 10 minutes of the first half, leading by as much as six points on a layup by junior Monique Biggins at the 11:57 mark to cap a 7-2 run that began four minutes earlier.

The Argonauts (3-1) responded by scoring the next nine points of the game over a span of three minutes to take a 22-18 lead with 8:17 remaining in the half. UAM never again led in the game despite forcing a tie at the 6:26 mark and trimming the UWF lead one point on two different occasions in the final three minutes of the first half. West Florida outscored UAM 44-27 in the second half.

The Blossoms ended the game shooting 52 percent from the field (24-for-46) and 48 percent from the foul line (10-for-21). UWF finished at 48 percent from the field (30-for-62), 29 percent on three-pointers (2-for-7) and 83 percent onfoul shots (15-for-18).

Sophomores Tamia Grady and Jordan Goforth led the Blossoms with 21 and 16 points, respectively. Grady finished the game 9-for-12 from the field, while Goforth finished 5-for-10.

Jasmie Wigfall led the Argos with 19 points in 25 minutes off the bench.

The Blossoms are back in action on Thursday, December 5 against Henderson State on the road. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.
