HOUSTON, Texas — Abilene Christian scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning leading to a 13-3 victory over the University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team on the first day of the Astros in Action DII Invitational at Minute Maid Park.

UAM (0-1) forced a 3-all tie in the top half of the fifth inning on a pair of homeruns – a two-RBI shot to right field from senior Hunter Allday followed two batters later by a solo shot to left from junior Ben Agredano.

ACU (1-0) went up 5-3 in the top of the fifth on RBI singles from Kyle Guisti and Tyler Eager before the Wildcats took advantage of two UAM errors, two hit batters and a bases loaded walk for their seven-run sixth inning. ACU’s Rodge Macy delivered an RBI-single down the right field line in the bottom of the seventh to force the game’s conclusion due to the NCAA’s 10-run mercy rule.

ACU starting pitcher Jordan Herrera (1-0) went the distance for the Wildcats, allowing three runs off seven hits, while striking out eight and walking just two in seven innings of work. UAM’s Bobby Bryan (0-1) took the loss after giving up five runs off five hits with no strikeouts and four walks in the first 4.1 innings.

Senior Taylor Eaves led UAM offensively with a 3-for-4 performance at the place. Allday finished 2-for-3. ACU’s Guisti went 4-for-5 with four RBI.

The Boll Weevils continue competition in the Astros in Action DII Invitational on Saturday against Tarleton State at 4 p.m.
