MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s and women’s basketball teams are set for their final regular-season road trip into the state of Oklahoma to face Southern Nazarene in a Great American Conference double-header on Saturday, February 16.
The Cotton Blossoms (5-16, 2-13 GAC) are coming off a 69-46 victory over Ecclesia College on Tuesday in the team’s final non-conference game of the season, while the Boll Weevils (13-8, 8-7 GAC) will have almost a full week off after coming off a 65-52 victory over East Central last Saturday at home.
Southern Nazarene’s women are currently riding a five-game winning streak, most recently posting a 95-80 win over Southern Arkansas at home on Thursday night. SNU is 13-9 overall and 10-6 in GAC games.
The SNU men held on to defeat Southern Arkansas on Thursday at home by a final score of 63-57 to improve to 13-9 overall and 8-8 in the league.
In the first meeting of the season between the two schools, the SNU women left Steelman Field House with a 62-51 victory over the Cotton Blossoms on January 10, while the Boll Weevils defended their home court, posting a 72-56 win over the Crimson Storm.
Saturday’s conference double-header gets started with the women taking the court for a 2 p.m. tipoff at the Sawyer Center in Bethany, Okla. The men’s game will follow at approximately 4 p.m. Live stats, live audio and live video will be available through links at uamsports.com.
