COMMERCE, Texas — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s golf team opened the spring portion of the 2012-13 schedule this past Monday and Tuesday with a 12th place finish at the Texoma Chevy Dealers-Crawford Wade Invitational hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce.
UAM posted a two-round team-score of 640, led individually by Ari Magnusson with scores of 78 and 81 for a 50th place finish out of over 80 participants.
Brooks Ashcraft followed in 55th place with a two-round total of 161, Theodor Karlsson and William Trawick tied for 63rd at 163, and Matt Crawley finished 73rd at 169.
St. Mary’s University won the event with a team score of 589, 11 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Arkansas-Fort Smith. STMU’s Matthew Van Winkle was the individual champion with a two-round total of 142.
UAM continues its spring season March 3-5 at the Mississippi College Spring Invitational in Clinton, Miss.
