CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Arkansas-Monticello Weevil's golf team closed out the first day of the 2025 W. Derrall Foreman Invitational Monday afternoon in Cleveland, Mississippi. The Boll Weevils were split into two teams this tournament, having traveled nine members to the Cleveland Country Club. Team A for UAM finished the day in first place after firing a 297 (+9) in round one, and 298 (+10) in round two for a combined score of 595 (+19). Team B closed out the opening rounds in 11th place, carding a combine two round score of 648 (+72), 324 (+36) in round one and  324 (+36) in round two.

Leading the day for the Weevils was Landry Rogers (-3), while Connor Denson (+7) led for the B team.

TEAM A
Landry Rogers led Team A for the Boll Weevils on day one in first place at 3-under par (141). Rogers posted a first-round of 70 (-2), followed by a second-round of 71 (-1).

Carson Slaughter shot a first-round of 80 (+8), before posting a second-round of 71 (-1), to finish day one tied for 15th at 7-over par (151).

Blayden Gillham finished tied for 26th at 10-over par (154), after firing a first-round of 79 (+7) and 3-over par (75) in the second-round.

Sawyor Hamilton fired a first-round of 73 (+1), before posting a second-round score of 82 (+10) to finish the day with an overall score of 155 (+11), tying for 28th.

Daniel Taylor closed out Team A for the Weevils on day one, finished tied for 32nd at 12-over par (156), after posting a score of 3-over par (75) in round one and 9-over par (81) in round two.

TEAM B
Connor Denson led Team B for the Boll Weevils on day one, tied for 15th place at 7-over par (151). Denson posted a first-round of 77 (+5), followed by a second-round of 74 (+2).

Camden Henson shot a first-round of 79 (+7), before posting a second-round of 80 (+8), to finish day one tied for 40th at 15-over par (159).

James Fuhrer finished tied for 50th at 21-over par (165), after firing a first-round of 82 (+10) and 11-over par (83) in the second-round.

Landon Milton closed out Team B for the Weevils on day one, finished in 55th at 29-over par (173), after posting a score of 14-over par (86) in round one and 15-over par (87) in round two.

Combined on the day the Weevils fired 42 birdies, with Connor Denson leading with seven.

The Weevils will play the final round of the tournament, tomorrow Tuesday, October 21, starting at 8:30 a.m.
