SCHEDULE NOTE: UAM and Northwest Missouri State will play a double header on Saturday, February 9 starting at 11 a.m. The original schedule called for a single game on Saturday and a single game on Sunday, but due to the weather forecast, administrators have decided to play two games on Saturday instead.

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team pounded out 18 hits in its first home game of the 2013 season, a 19-7 victory over Northwest Missouri State on Friday at Weevils Field.
UAM (2-3) jumped to a quick lead in the first, batting all the way through the lineup, plus three, for eight runs, highlighted by a three-run triple from junior Chad Miller and three consecutive run-producing at bats from junior D’Marco Poindexter, senior Taylor Eaves and junior Tyler Caruthers.
The Boll Weevils went up 10-0 in the second on a two-RBI double from junior Stephen Martinez before the Bearcats (0-1) reached the board in the top of the third with three runs, highlighted by a two-run single from Brandon Huske.
UAM cushioned its lead in the bottom of the fourth by batting through the lineup for the second time for a six run rally, highlighted by a two-RBI double down the left field line from junior Ben Agredano.
The Bearcats added three more runs in the top of the seventh on one swing off the bat of pinch-hitter JJ Baccari, who sent a shot over the right center field fence to trim UAM’s lead to 10 runs at 16-6.
UAM finalized its scoring with three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI-single from Caruthers, an RBI-double from Agredano and an RBI-single from junior Ray Johnson.
NWMSU added its final run in the top of the ninth on an RBI groundout from Brandon Huske.
Senior Bobby Bryan (1-1) earned the win after allowing three runs off five hits with five strikeouts and only one walk in the first six innings. Blane Ruetter (0-1) took the loss for NWMSU after a rocky start, allowing eight runs off four hits with four walks in the first inning.
UAM had three players with three hits each. Eaves went 3-for-4, Caruthers went 3-for-3 and Miller went 3-for-5.
The Boll Weevils are back in action on Saturday with a double header against NWMSU starting at 11 a.m. at Weevils Field.
