HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s and women’s golf teams both finished in eighth place at the Great American Conference Championships played the Hot Springs (Ark.) Country Club this past Sunday-Tuesday.
The UAM men finished with a three-round total of 928, 14 strokes behind seventh place finisher Southern Nazarene and 13 strokes ahead of ninth place finisher Southern Arkansas. Arkansas Tech won the team championship with a team total of 891. Southwestern Oklahoma State finished second at 892 and East Central finished third at 902.
Theodor Karlsson led UAM with a tie for 13th place. He shot a 71 in the first round, a 77 in the second round and a 76 in the third round for a three-day total of 224. William Trawick tied for 23rd at 231, Matt Crawley tied teammate Ari Magnusson for 42nd at 239 and Brooks Ashcraft finished 49th at 247.
ATU’s Brian Belz was the top individual finisher at 213 with scores of 70, 72 and 71.
The UAM women finished with a three-round total of 1,103, just four strokes behind seventh place finisher Northwestern Oklahoma State and 56 strokes ahead of ninth place finisher Southern Arkansas. Harding won the team title with a three-round total of 228. Henderson State finished second at 956 and Arkansas Tech finished third at 961.
Pamela Quiatchon led UAM and tied for 22nd place overall with scores of 85, 86 and 83 for a total of 254. Linda Williams finished in 35th place at 279, Brooke Boyd finished 40th at 288, Sarah Roddy finished 41st at 291 and Lauren Roddy finished 43rd at 296.
Henderson State’s Kendall Earp was the top individual finisher at 227 with scores of 78, 78 and 71.
