MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team gave up 21 points off 20 turnovers in a 79-55 loss to Southern Arkansas on Thursday night at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.

In the first half, neither team led by more than three points throughout the first 12 minutes before SAU (8-8, 4-6 Great American Conference) used a 14-4 scoring run in between media timeouts to grab a 32-22 lead at the 3:35 mark.

The Lady Muleriders outscored UAM (5-11, 1-9 GAC) 20-11 in the final seven minutes of the first half to hold a 38-29 advantage at the break.

SAU started the second half scoring the first 10 points to grow its lead to 19 points less than three minutes into the period. The Lady Muleriders maintained at least a 12-point lead throughout the remainder of the contest. SAU outscored UAM 41-26 in the second half and held the Blossoms to just nine made field goals in the final 20 minutes.

UAM finished the game shooting 40 percent from the field (19-for-48), 50 percent on three pointers (4-for-8) and 54 percent on foul shots (13-for-24). SAU shot 53 percent from the field (32-for-61), 71 percent on three pointers (5-for-7) and 77 percent on foul shots (10-for-13).

Sophomores Tamia Grady, Jordan Goforth and Nikki Mullen led UAM in scoring.Grady had 17 points, Goforth had 16 and Mullen had 11.

SAU placed five scorers in double-digits, led by Barvion Wyatt's game-high 18 points.
