GOFORTH, NICHOLS LEAD @UAMWBB TO ROAD WIN OVER OUACHITA

ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas –
Junior Jordan Goforth tied her season-high with 26 points and sophomore Tori Nichols had 13 second-half points to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team to a 69-59 road win over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday.

UAM (4-5, 3-2 Great American Conference) opened the first half on a 13-0 scoring run to take an early lead, which was never given up despite the Lady Tigers (3-6, 0-3 GAC) pulling to within one point with 4:26 remaining in the second half.

The Blossoms' 13-0 run to start the game was the team's largest lead of the game. UAM led by as much as 11 points in the final minute of the second half.

After the Tigers pulled to within one point, the Blossoms posted an 11-1 run over the next three minutes to get back on top by double-digits.

The Blossoms finished the game shooting 41 percent from the field (24-for-58) after improving nearly 30 percentage points from the first half to the second half. UAM made 9-of-16 three-pointers and 12-of-20 foul shots.

Goforth finished the game 10-for-17 from the field and 3-for-4 on foul shots. All 13 of Nichols' points came in the second half. She also finished with a game-high 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the year. Nichols also chipped in with 4 blocked shots in the win, nearly two more than her season average, which ranks second in the GAC.

Junior Nikki Mullen and freshman Taylor Collins also reached double-figures in scoring with 10 points each.

Ouachita finished the game shooting 36 percent from the field (18-for-50). Katie Kapler led OBU with 13 points. Taylor Bowles added 12.

The Blossoms are back in action on Wednesday with a trip to Natchitoches, Louisiana to face off against Northwestern State in an exhibition contest. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
