WEATHERFORD, Okla. –
The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team completed the first half of a two-week road swing with a 72-46 loss on the road to Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.

The Cotton Blossoms (5-14, 1-12 Great American Conference) led for the first six minutes before the Lady Bulldogs (12-6, 9-3 GAC) used an 11-2 run to grab a four-point lead with 12:17 remaining in the opening half. UAM scored the next five points to regain the lead on a three-pointer from sophomore Jordan Goforth at the 10:28 mark.

SWOSU regained the lead on its next possession and maintained that lead for the remainder of the contest. The Lady Bulldogs grew their lead to double-digits with 2:17 remaining in the half and led 32-23 at the break.

The Blossoms trimmed the deficit to seven points at the 14:08 mark before SWOSU scored 13 consecutive points over the next five minutes to build a 21-point lead at the 9:40 mark.

UAM finished the game shooting 27 percent from the field (16-for-59), 13 percent on three-pointers (2-for-15) and 71 percent on foul shots (12-for-17). SWOSU shot 43 percent from the field (30-for-70), 30 percent on three-pointers (7-for-27) and 56 percent on foul shots (5-for-9).

Jordan Goforth led the Blossoms with 16 points and also added a game-high eight rebounds. SWOSU's Taryn Samaya led all scorers with 26 points in 32 minutes off the bench.

The Blossoms return to action next Thursday, February 6 against Southeastern Oklahoma State. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. in Durant, Okla.
